LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three Kentucky residents became millionaires Monday after they picked up their prize checks from Kentucky Lottery Headquarters in downtown Louisville.

Two of the winners wished to remain anonymous. One won a $1 million Powerball prize from the May 15 drawing. That ticket was sold at Smitty's in Radcliff. Another won in the May 18 drawing with a ticket sold at the Thornton's in Buckner.

The third winner was Ralph Staples of Paynesville. The 71-year-old retired plumber bought his ticket for the May 18 drawing at the Basham's Corner Mart in Vine Grove. Friends say Staples has been playing for the last 20+ years and plays his numbers daily at Basham's.

"I'm not going to build no $300 or $400,000 house and buy no $50,000 vehicles," said Staples.

Staples told Kentucky Lottery officials he plans on getting some nice funeral plots and headstones for himself and his wife, Tonkie.
