LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Will Wolford has enlisted the help of some heavy hitters as he takes over the St. X football program. One of those is former UofL quarterback Browning Nagle.
The star of the Cards 1991 Fiesta Bowl win over Alabama is not only coaching the Tigers quarterbacks, he is coaching his son, B.J., a St. X junior. B.J. and Browning moved to Louisville from Memphis, Tennessee, for the second semester this season.
"I'm glad I made that decision now, being able to do spring practice and I'm really enjoying myself up here," B.J. said. "These are a bunch of great guys, great team, we all work real hard and I think we're getting pretty close."
"He loves a challenge and obviously coming into St. Xavier with the new scheme, the new style of offense, that's a big challenge," Browning said about his son.
Wolford has seen enough in the first few days of spring practice to be impressed. "B.J. Nagle is a big time quarterback," he said. "He's about 6-2, 225. He has a very strong arm, and when you meet his dad, Browning, you know exactly where it came from, because Browning, at 45 years old can still throw it 70 yards."
The Tigers kick off the 2013 season on Friday, August 23, hosting Ballard.
