LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An Elizabethtown mother who suffered
serious injuries when an SUV rolled onto her died Saturday at University of
Shannon Gales, 25, died
at 2:31 p.m. Saturday of multiple injuries she suffered while she was pinned
underneath the vehicle on Thursday, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner
Kentucky State Police said Gales ran out of gas just before 9 p.m. Thursday

tried to push the 1995 GMC SUV to the home of Gales' mother. Gales' 2-year-old
daughter was strapped in a car seat inside the vehicle.

the passenger to stop pushing it. Gales continued to hold the steering wheel
from the outside of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it from rolling.
Nevertheless, police said the SUV continued to roll backwards, traveled down an
embankment and flipped over a culvert. Gales become pinned underneath it. Her
daughter was uninjured.
Trooper Dennis Oldham and Sgt. Jeff Jenkins were able to lift the vehicle
off Gales and administered CPR until an EMS crew arrived. Gales was rushed to
Hardin Memorial Hospital in critical condition. She later was taken
to University Hospital where she died.
