Civilians suffer heat exhaustion while paying their respects

CHAPLIN, KY (WAVE) – At least three people have collapsed due to heat exhaustion while attending the funeral service for fallen Bardstown Officer Jason Ellis, according to law enforcement command at the gravesite.

Ambulances that were assigned for Thursday's service at Highview Cemetery transported the patients to area hospitals for treatment.

Additional ambulances from other agencies, as well as rehab buses, have been called to the service as a precaution for those paying their respects.
