LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Friends and family gathered Monday night to remember a woman murdered in March at her home in the Parkland neighborhood.

Vernice Aniton, 64, was found in the burning home she rented by Louisville firefighters early on the morning of March 3. It was originally believed Aniton died in the fire, but investigators later said the fire at Aniton's Cypress Street home was a cover-up for her murder.

On March 13, Louisville Metro Police issued an arrest warrant for Gerry Lawson, 53, on charges of murder, arson, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
