Man tries to abduct children at W. 104 and Lorain in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
A man has been charged for trying to grab a 10-year old girl in an incident recorded by surveillance cameras.
58-year old Renaldo Payne has been hit with a felony charge of abduction.
The attack happened mid-afternoon last Friday at W. 104 and Lorain in Cleveland.
A store security camera shows a man walking across the street just as two little girls walk up. The man stands there near them, and then he pounces. The video shows him reaching out at one girl. Both children run off and then the man runs the other way.
Two local mechanics helped the store owner retrieve the video from his system and the next day Don Cunningham and Ken Lennox say they saw the man at the same corner, and they followed him.
They called police and officers arrested Payne at an apartment in the neighborhood.
"I have four children. Kids are off limits to anyone," said Cunningham."
Payne has a long record, but we saw no prior sex offenses.
