HENRYVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Traffic is now flowing on Interstate 65 in southern Indiana after the wreckage of a jackknifed semi was cleared from the roadway.
According to Indiana State Police, the accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. at the 21 mile marker in northern Clark County and closed both northbound lanes near the rest area.
While crews worked to clean up the wreckage, northbound I-65 traffic was diverted at the Henryville exit, exit 19, to north US 31. Drivers were able to re-enter I-65 in Scottsburg.
Video from Air 3 showed the traffic backup extended at least eight miles from the exit during the closure.
ISP said the cargo, which was not identified, was not spilled on the interstate. A forklift was used to help offload the trailer.
The driver of the semi was being checked for minor injuries.
I-65 was reopened around 6:15 p.m.
