Former Virginia beauty queen arrested and charged again

A former Virginia beauty queen is making headlines again, this time for allegedly running into her ex-boyfriend's car.

Nikki Poteet was arrested and charged with hit and run on May 16, according to Richmond Police. Sources say she crashed her car into her ex-boyfriend's vehicle.

Assault charges against Poteet were dismissed last month stemming from an alleged attacked on her ex-boyfriend, Patrick McElroy, in March.

The charges were dismissed in part because McElroy told the judge in court that he was intoxicated and he couldn't remember what happened.

Poteet also has a history of run-ins with former allies. In November 2011, Poteet's roommate said he sent the Miss Universe Pageant a letter after she allegedly used homophobic slurs during a drunken fight.

Poteet's title as Miss United States was revoked after a photo surfaced on Facebook that shows Poteet wearing her crown with the caption "Miss Alcoholic USA."

No charges were filed in either of those cases.

Poteet has been tight-lipped about these incidents, refusing repeated attempts for an interview. Poteet's last known address is now an empty building and her attorney had no comment.

McElroy also refused comment.
