(Lexington, KY)- Mike Hartnett
It took an extra inning but Pleasure Ridge Park captured its fifth state baseball championship by nipping Mercer County 3 to 2 Saturday night in Lexington.
With the game tied 2-all after seven innings, the Panthers' Joe Hatcher chalked up what proved to be the game-winner with a squeeze bunt that scored Blake Stewart, who had led off the inning with a triple. Hatcher was named the tourney's M.V.P.
Panthers' starting pitcher, Kyle Olliges rang up 10 strikeouts as he went the distance for the state champs.
