Clarksville gets Code Red alert system

CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A city-wide alert system has been implemented in Clarksville.

The alert will notify residents of any imminent threat in the area. The program is called Code Red and residents can sign up to receive weather notifications, general notifications and/or emergency notifications on their cell phones or at home on their land lines.

Betty Herrick home schools her children at their Clarksville School. She said the alert system will be great for the city, "I mean it will make it [the community] more aware of what's going on in the community. Being able to protect your children, bring them in, and then make them aware. Like what happened in Boston, everyone was on the lookout and being able to protect each other in the community."
