Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker dies at 54

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker died Friday morning at Hardin Memorial Hospital, according to a news release from the hospital.

According to the release, Walker, 54, passed away at 5:33 a.m. The cause of death is pending. An autopsy will be performed at the state medical examiner's office.

Walker was in his first term after being elected mayor in November 2010. Prior to becoming mayor, Walker served as a city councilman for 13 years and had been an Elizabethtown firefighter for seven years.

The Elizabethtown City Attorney said the city council has 30 days to select a new mayor to serve the remainder of Walker's term, which expires in November 2014.

Walker is survived by his mother, his wife, six children and eight grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Brown Funeral Home.
