Kentucky, Indiana All-Stars split games in Freedom Hall

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky and Indiana All-Stars went head to head in a doubleheader on Friday night at Freedom Hall. Each picked up a win.

In the girls game, Kentucky Miss Basketball Makayla Epps filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals as the girls in blue built a 48-35 halftime cushion. Epps, who led Marion County to the 2013 Kentucky state title, is headed to Kentucky in the fall.

Indiana Miss Basketball Stephanie Mavunga, a North Carolina signee, was limited to 2 points in just 3 minutes of action. She is battling a knee injury.

Madison Central's Ashton Feldhaus led all scorers with 20, hitting 6 of 8 three-pointers, as Kentucky held on for the 84-78 win.

In the nightcap, the Indiana boys outscored Kentucky 70-31 in the second half on their way to a 114-60 win.

V.J. Beachem, a Notre Dame signee, led all scorers with 22. Indiana Mister Basketball Zak Irvin, who is headed to Michigan, finished with 14.

Indiana signee Devin Davis chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds, and fellow future Hoosier Collin Hartman had 6.

The Bluegrass boys were led by Kentucky signee Derek Willis, a Bullitt East grad, with 18 points, and fellow future Cat, Dominique Hawkins, who finished with 13. They were the only two Kentucky players in double figures. Bellarmine signee Rusty Troutman finished with 6 points.

The series continues Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
