LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man was taken into custody after he allegedly kept his ex-girlfriend locked away in a room.

The victim stated she was locked in the room for nearly 21 hours after Michael C. Ward, 34, barricaded the doorway with a bed. The victim also claimed Ward assaulted her several times and she was forced to urinate in a cup.

Metro police were called to Ward's residence late Wednesday night when the victim's sister advised authorities her sister had called claiming she was holding her against her will.

Authorities saw Ward drive up to the residence, drop off the victim, and then drive off where he was shortly stopped by police.

Ward is charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault, intimidating a participant in the legal process and operating on a suspended or revoked license.
