LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Avid vinyl lovers spent the weekend in paradise during VinylFest at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the airport.

The festival featured several record vendors, album artworks, album artists and live bands.

Dave Hodge with VinylFest said there is no greater vehicle of music than the vinyl album because of the sound quality. "It's warmer, it's richer, it gives most folks a better feeling of the music," Hodge said. "They can actually feel the music."

Vinyl album sales have risen in recent years. Greg Biggs said his customer base is not only growing, it's getting younger.

"The vinyl has come back in the last few years, and in particular, amongst much younger people," Biggs said.  "It technically never went away. It's just because the CD grew in dominance. But now the sound of vinyl is really alluring to younger kids."

This is the first year for VinylFest in Louisville. Organizers said they plan to return next year.
