Nashville fireworks set for Friday canceled due to rainy weather
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Nashville tourism leaders said they have canceled the second night of Independence Day fireworks set for Friday at the riverfront due to the threat of rain.
Thousands of people braved the rain and mud to watch fireworks downtown Thursday, but the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp said it "decided not to press our luck tomorrow and cancel the events scheduled for July 5th."
Music City's tribute to America was called 'Let Freedom Sing,' and popular country music group The Band Perry headlined the Thursday festivities.
Due to the rain, the Nashville Symphony's live performance was canceled, but a recorded version of the symphony's music played in unison to the fireworks.
Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks. Avoid buying fireworks that are packaged in brown paper because this is often a sign that the fireworks were made for professional displaysMore >>
