LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The new downtown bridge comes with a major traffic disruption.
The first noticeable adjustment is scheduled to happen July 8 when the ramp from Interstate 64 east to Interstate 65 south will close for nearly three years.
"Probably your best bet is to use the Watterson [Expressway] and use 264 and they can use surface streets if they are staying in the area and access other points in that area," said Mindy Peterson, spokesperson for the Bridges Project-Downtown Crossing.
For drivers coming in from the west on I-64 trying to get downtown, the 9th Street or 22nd Street exits are an option.
Traffic should be moving on the new downtown crossing in April 2016.
