Standing at 5'10, 160, Keion Wakefield is a stand out wide receiver and defensive back for Male High School. Last week he was at a UK football camp where he was told some exciting news.
"He took a deep breath and said daddy Coach Stoops offered me, and I was like Keion quit playing you know we like to joke around but he said no daddy I'm serious," said Keion's Dad Ron Wakefield.
Keion commented, "It was a big relief when he said I want to offer you a scholarship to the University of Kentucky, I just took a deep breath and said hard work pays off."
"Advanced for his age you know at 14 he has great leaping ability, great speed, good size, and has great ball skills too," said Male Head Coach Chris Wolfe.
Keion runs a 4.6 40 and doctor's predict he'll be 6'3 or taller, but the scariest part of it all is he has three more years to improve before college.
Keion conveyed, "I work hard, I work out basically everyday of the week besides Sunday. Sundays are my break day but come Monday I'm going right back at it.
"Oh his game could go through the roof, you know now a day's kids are working hard through the off season and I think if he continues to improve and fine tune the little things of football as being a wide receiver I think the sky could be the limit for this kid," said former U of L Receiver Montrell Jones.
