Day care worker accused of lying to state pleads not guilty

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A day care owner accused of lying to the state to get hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.

Katrina Clyburn, who owns Trina's Treehouse II, is accused of lying about her income
while still receiving food stamps, medicaid and child care assistance benefits.

The west Louisville location of Trina's Treehouse shut down following a the death of Jacorey Davis, 2, who swallowed a push pin in October 2011.

Davis' mother, who is Clyburn's cousin, is suing Clyburn and other day care workers.

Clyburn is charged with 13 counts of creating false statements to receive benefits.
