FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Two Franklin County men are behind bars after taking Frankfort police on chase early Wednesday after they stole a vehicle.
According to Major Fred Deaton, an officer spotted a speeding car on US 127 around 12:35 a.m. on June 19. When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the car sped off and made a turn trying to elude him.
The driver of car lost control crashed the vehicle, and the men inside fled on foot. Both were soon captured, but a K-9 unit had to be called to find one of them.
Joshua Stigers and Matthew Lewis, both 18, are facing a long list of charges which include speeding, reckless driving, and fleeing and evading police. Police learned the car they were in had been left in the parking lot of the Walmart automotive center for service.
Stigers and Lewis were booked into the Franklin County Regional Jail.
