(Louisville, Ky.) Some Louisville area children got a chance to work on their basketball skills under the watchful eye of the University of Kentucky Coaching staff and some of the players from the men's team during Camp Cal at Christian Academy.
Young basketball players tend to get bored working on the basic fundamentals of the game, but it's not so bad when your favorite player is giving you tips. "I've got two grand kids out here and Scott (jonson) is a big UK fan and this is his dream", said Tom Jonson who was in attendance. Jonson's grandson, Scott said his favorite part of the camp was getting his basketball signed by the players and the coaching staff.
After the camp participants were finished working on different drills, they competed in a free throw contest with the prize being a chance to square off in a free throw competition against winners from other camps around the state at Big Blue Madness in front of over 24,000 screaming Big Blue fans. The winner at this camp was seven year old, Johnathan Kepnes. Kepnes was very confident about his chances of winning when asked if he would win, his answer,"for sure", said Kepnes.
A little hoops, fun, and autographs from their favorite players. Not a bad way to spend a summer afternoon.
