ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - Nearly 2,000 young athletes from 24 states have descended on Kentucky for the Baseball Youth Nationals in Hardin County.

Six hundred baseball games will be played at the Elizabethtown Sports Park up until Independence Day.

The teams have brought along coaches and parents.

They are giving local hotels and restaurants a big economic boost. Organizers are projecting that the nearly 5,000 tourists will spend over $5,000,000 dollars in Hardin County alone.

"We're packed all the way from Shepherdsville to Bardstown, even 50 teams staying in the Louisville area to play ball here in Elizabethtown," said Janna Clark, the Sports Park's spokesperson.

She said players have reserved rooms at 100 Elizabethtown hotels, over 50 in Louisville and over a dozen in Radcliff.
