LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - General Electrical Appliance leaders unveiled a new line of kitchen appliances Wednesday with younger consumers in mind.

Inside the GE Appliance Park Monogram Hall, designers debuted the new GE Artistry Series. The kitchen appliance series features both gas and electric range stoves, bottom-freezer refrigerators, over-the-range microwaves, and top-control dishwashers.

Louisville-based GE industrial designer Tomas DeLuna, 27, said he created the series with millennials between the ages of 25 and 34 as his target audience.

"There is a really big segment of people that are around my age - which are millennials," said DeLuna. "We found that this is an untapped market and is a great opportunity for us to kind of grab this segment of the market."

According to developers, the GE Artistry Series is designed for millennials because they comprise a good portion of first time home-buyers.

"They're entering the market place. They're buying their first home," began GE Industrial Design Operation Director Lou Lenzi. "They want a line of appliances in their kitchen that reflect who they are," said Lenzi of the new series designed to appeal to both millennials' aesthetic tastes and wallets.

"The entire kitchen suite is $2,400, which is a lot of design for very little money," said Lenzi.

The GE Artistry Series will roll out in September.
