Storms wreak havoc at Speedway before weekend of racing


It's a big weekend at the Kentucky Speedway. However, before race fans pack the track in Sparta, crews have to clean up the grounds following Wednesday's storm.

Strong winds tore through the grounds of the Kentucky Speedway bending aluminum poles and even snapping a few in half. Winds scattered debris across the grounds and wrecked temporary tents set up for a big weekend.

Crew say they do expect all of the damage to be cleaned up before Thursday's races.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series kicks off Thursday at 8:00 p.m. as drivers battle on the 1.5 mile tri-oval for the sixteenth time.

On Friday, the NASCAR Nationwide Series returns for the Feed the Children 300 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Quaker State 400, the tracks main event for the weekend, begins Saturday at 7:30 p.m. bring with it thousands of fans and campers.

In addition to racing, numerous entertainment acts are scheduled as well. Country Superstar Billy Currington is scheduled to play a pre-race concert on Saturday before the Quaker State 400.
