Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, attended the 4th of July Parade in Northside.

Giffords and Kelly are touring the country from July 1-7, leading the Rights and Responsibilities Tour to rally supporters for expanded background checks and responsible gun ownership.

The parade ended at Hoffner Park for the July 4 neighborhood festival.

Giffords and Kelly held a press event prior to the parade with supporters from law enforcement and veterans at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church.

"I've been around guns my whole life, and I know that as an American, my right to own a firearm goes hand in hand with my obligation to be a responsible gun owner and  to do my part to make sure guns don't fall into the hands of criminals or dangerously mentally ill people," said ARS co-founder Captain Mark Kelly.

"We are very pleased to have the couple participate in the parade," said parade organizer Chuck Brown. "We take pride in being an inclusive, welcoming neighborhood and feel honored that Ms. Giffords and her organization, Americans for Responsible Solutions selected our parade."
