Woman accused of trying to abduct infant arrested

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A woman accused of trying to abduct an infant from a Muncie home has been arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon and strangulation.

The Star Press reports 34-year-old Judith Ann Walker was arrested early Saturday, a day after she entered a home where she had done work as an exterminator. She allegedly tried to abduct a 3-week-old girl. She was being held without bond Saturday at the Delaware County Jail. Jail records did not indicate whether she had hired an attorney.

Muncie police Lt. Steve Cox said the mother was able to escape after Walker wrapped cord around the woman's neck and said she wanted the baby.
