In 118 degree temperatures, firefighters have contained what started out as a large mulch fire in Phoenix.
The fire started near 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road just before 5 p.m. on Friday and quickly spread.
Tires, trucks and trailers parked at B & N Salvage at 3663 W. Lower Buckeye Rd. are on fire. It appears the fire started at Southwest Forest Products and spread over to the salvage yard.
The Phoenix Fire Department said it started from a piece of heavy equipment that ignited on top of a mulch pile.
Fire officials said there are also abandoned buses and ambulances in the area and some of the trucks exploded.
There are no reports of injuries.
The Phoenix Police Department has shut down both north and southbound traffic between Lower Buckeye and Broadways. Officers are recommending that people avoid the area Friday night.
Smoke from the blaze can be seen from downtown Phoenix.
