Springfield police investigating afternoon shooting

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A man was shot in the area of 743 Carew St. shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that the man, who was shot once in the lower half of his body, was taken to Baystate Medical Center with what appears to be non-life- threatening injuries.

The victim stated he did not see the shooter and, other than that, he was not being cooperative with investigators.

Police said they are looking for a male suspect described as heavy-set and short.
