Body found at Cox Park likely shot in Fern Creek

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police confirm they were called to a scene in Fern Creek in relation to the victim found dead in a parked car at Cox Park.

It was just before 1 a.m. Monday when LMPD officers responded to the 8500 block of Beulah Church Road for reports of gunshots and a possible robbery.

Around 2:30 a.m., a patrolling officer noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in Cox Park. When the officer approached the car, he found a man dead inside from gunshot wounds.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Brandon Shackleford, 24, of Louisville.

Metro police tell WAVE 3 News the victim and another man picked up a third person in Fern Creek and a dispute soon followed.

Police are searching the gold car found at Cox Park for evidence. If you have any information you're asked to call police at 574-LMPD (5673).
