LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Over a century of service was celebrated during a birthday event on Monday.

The Salvation Army has served the community of Louisville for 130 years.

The celebration was held at the Salvation Army's Male campus and attendees included Mayor Greg Fischer and other supporters of the Salvation Army including Papa John's John Schnatter and WAVE 3 News Vice President and General Manager Ken Selvaggi.

During the event the Salvation Army also launched its Christmas in July campaign.    

The campaign's mission is to drum up support and volunteers now for kettle bell ringers for the 2013 holiday season, as well as highlight the other many programs and services provided by the Salvation Army.
