LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) -  A woman on her way to a bar struck a pedestrian, according to police.

According to a police report, Kelly Furnish was on her way to the Back Door around 2:20 a.m. Sunday when she hit a pedestrian crossing the street, in the 900 block of Baxter Avenue. A witness stated Furnish was speeding over the limit when she hit the victim and only afterward did she slow down.

An officer approached Furnish and reported they immediately smelled alcohol. The report stated Furnish displayed distinct and sustained nystagmus, along with lack of balance. Officers said Furnish uttered the phrases "just put me in the car" "I'm humiliated with all these people" and "we both know I've had a drink".

The injured pedestrian was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with a broken leg, broken arm and a laceration to the face.

Furnish is charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, assault to the first degree and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.
