BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) - Comments spoken on the House floor about a fallen officers service and death are now a part of the permanent Congressional record.

Shortly after the murder of Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis Representative Brett Guthrie spoke about him on the house floor.

On Wednesday Guthrie presented a copy of the record to the city of Bardstown.

Bardstown Police Department Captain Tony Romy said,"I can assure you that, on behalf of the police department, the family and friends of officer Ellis, we're touched that you took the time to honor Jason. Jason truly loved his job, his family, his community and his country."

The Bardstown Police Department will display its copy on a memorial wall. The Ellis family will also receive their own official copy.
