Florida Gators starting quarterback Jeff Driskel may be trading in his football helmet for one of the batting variety.
Driskel announced Thursday he has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox.
He assures Gator fans he will return to Gainesville and complete his football career before turning to baseball.
Driskel was selected by the Red Sox in the 29th round of this year's MLB Draft.
In his first year as a starter under center, Driskel led the Gators to a Sugar Bowl berth.
