Crews on scene of fire near middle school in Fairdale

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Fire crews are on the scene of a fire near a middle school, according to MetroSafe.

MetroSafe confirmed around 9:30 p.m. they received calls of a large fire near Lassiter Middle School, located in the 8200 block of Candleworth Drive.

When Fairdale firefighters arrived on the scene they reported heavy smoke and fire. The fire chief on the scene said the fire was started by people who were shooting fireworks toward a dumpster.

MetroSafe said a storage building in front of the school caught fire.
