Rescue crews searching for 5-year-old in CT River

SOUTH HADLEY, MA (WSHM) -

Rescue crews from the South Hadley Fire Department, the Holyoke Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police are searching for a 5-year-old girl they believe fell into the Connecticut River.

State police tell CBS 3 that they received a call at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Saturday from South Hadley police, asking for assistance in the search.

They believe the girl fell into the river from a residence on Cove Island Road.

The state police sent in assets from their Air Wing, Dive Team and Troopers from their Northampton Barracks.

The detective unit from the Northwestern District Attorney's office is investigating the incident.
