LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Greater Nazarene Baptist Church is completely destroyed after an afternoon fire broke out Saturday.

Pastor Isaac Shoulders said he' had just left the church a couple of hours before the fire and everything seemed normal.

Fire crews were called around 4:15, but by the time they arrived, part of the roof had already collapsed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Federal investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms have been called in to help determine the cause.  That is standard procedure when a place of worship catches fire.

Members said that building or no building, they will still be attending church at the site Sunday morning. Greater Nazarene was a small congregation and without insurance. They worshipped at the 19th and Cedar Street locatiom for over 30 years. The congregation was planning on celebrating their 107th church anniversary in August.

The church has a fund set up at River City Bank for anyone who would like to contribute.
