Woman accused of killing boyfriend with hatchet faces judge

OLDHAM COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - An Oldham County woman accused of killing her boyfriend with a hatchet faced a judge Monday.

Gail Kelley, 51, was taken into custody July 6 and charged with the murder of Michael Evans, 44.

Court documents show the two lived together and police had visited their home in Pewee Valley several times for fights between the two.

Monday the judge entered a not guilty plea on Kelley's behalf and appointed her a public defender. The judge also lowered Kelley's bond from $2.5 million to $1 million.

Evan's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
