Joey Votto and Jeff Crews (Source: http://jeffcrews.wordpress.com/)
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A Reds fan received a dying wish in an amazing way when he was treated to a game by Joey Votto...and then witnessed a no-hitter.
According to his blog, Jeff Crews, of Centerville, Ohio was diagnosed with a Stage 4 brain tumor in June. A family friend connected him with Votto, who hosted him at the July 2 game against the Giants.
That game ended as Homer Bailey's second career no-hitter. Oddly, Jeff and his wife also attended Bailey's first no-hitter last September in August.
"We were given field passes for batting practice on Tuesday as well as some fantastic seats for the game. The entire day was amazing," the blog states.
Sadly, Jeff Crews passed away two days later, on July 4. A memorial service is scheduled for July 10 at 6 p.m. at Benham's Grove in Centerville.
