East Louisville blasting schedule for the week of July 8

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - People who live on Louisville's east side might feel like they live closer to Fort Knox as blasting crews work to prepare for a new tunnel as part of the East End Crossing Project.

Blasting will occur near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841 during the week of July 8 on the dates and at the approximate times listed as follows:

  • Monday, July 8 -- 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 9 -- 2:30 p.m. and 2:35 p.m. (new time)
  • Wednesday, July 10 -- 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 11 --10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, July 12 -- 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

For the safety of the construction crews and the public, traffic in the area will be stopped between five and 20 minutes before each blast. Traffic stops during the blasts will occur on KY 841 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. 42 and on U.S. 42 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and Bridgepointe Boulevard.

In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the blasting schedule could be adjusted. When such changes occur, they will be posted on kyinbridges.com.
