SPENCER COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – He was supposed to be keeping the pests out, but detectives say he became the pest when he was accused of stealing jewelry and medication from his customers' homes.

Orkin Pest Control Technician Jeffrey Todd Sizemore, 37, is accused of at least four counts of theft. The Spencer County Sheriff's office believes there are more victims out there.

It was a special gift Rich Eschman gave his wife Wanda many years ago. "Gosh, 25 years or so," he said.

A locket on a necklace that she kept close because inside were pictures of their children and grandchildren.

"My wife was at home, she had just gotten home and she took of her jewelry when she got in," said Eschman.

That same day, Sizemore was there to spray. After he left, Wanda realized her prized locket was gone. The Eschmans went to the Spencer County Sheriff's Office and detectives quickly learned this couple wasn't alone.

"This guy was actually pawning jewelry, we found quite a bit pawned in Bardstown and in Lexington," said Sheriff Buddy Stump.

Stump said Sizemore worked in at least three different counties. He was based at the Orkin in Harrodsburg. Not long after the first report, the sheriff's office got another call from another one of Sizemore's customers. This time pain medication was missing.

The second victim decided to take the investigation in their own hands. "When he came back for his next visit, they had actually set a camera up and he stole again," said Stump.

The sheriff says when they interviewed Sizemore he admitted to the crimes. Then out of the blue Sizemore called Eschman to apologize.

"I said 'You have the pictures?' and he said 'Yeah in one of these lockets here' and I said 'Well how many lockets do you have?'," said Eschman.

Tucked in a cigarette box, Eschman says Sizemore dropped off a locket and the pictures in his mailbox, but the locket wasn't Wanda's. While he's glad to have the pictures back, Eschman says he still wasn't buying Sizemore's apology.

"He wanted to act like he was remorseful," said Eschman.

WAVE 3's calls to Orkin were not returned.

Eschman said he talked to the Harrodsburg owner who apologized and said Sizemore passed a background check.

WAVE 3 found that Sizemore was arrested for theft of medication from someone's home back in 2008.

Sizemore was arrested and booked, but has since bonded out of jail.
