LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Flooding issues that have troubled residents in neighborhoods near Algonquin Parkway for years were addressed Tuesday night.

The Metropolitan Sewer District and the Louisville Metro Council held a meeting at 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of Algonquin Parkway to inform residents improvement work will begin in a couple of weeks.

MSD Project Administrator Clay Calloway explained, "We hope to have it done sometime by the end of September, first of October weather permitting. So we have already awarded the contract and we're planning to proceed with speed to get the work done as fast as possible."

According to MSD around 19 homes will be impacted by the work.

MSD said some residents will be inconvenienced while crews finish improving the drainage.
