LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) - A family has a little bit of closure after the man they believe is partially responsible for their daughter death pleads guilty.

In court Thursday, Phillip Kinser pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and trafficking in a controlled substance in the February 2012 death of Summer Williams.

Summer, 16, died at her friend's home in LaGrange. Investigators say Summer took a deadly combination of drugs, including Opana.

Kinser is only one of four people charged. Tiffany Dull, Tiffany Richardson and Roger Wilson are all charged with unlawful transaction with a minor.

Summer's family told us Kinser was sentenced to 12 years. He will be credited for time served and placed on probation for five years.

Kentucky is one of four states that does not have a law that holds you responsible for a person's death when it is related to a felony, but Summer's family is hoping to change that by pushing for legislation. They say they would call such legislation, "Summer's Law."
