Clark Memorial Bridge shut down due to crash, 2 injured

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two drivers are suffering from injuries after a motor vehicle accident that shut down the Clark Memorial/Second Street bridge Thursday night, according to police.

MetroSafe confirmed, around 9:30 p.m. Jeffersonville police called and asked for assistance to shut the bridge down.

Detective Todd Hollis with Jeffersonville police said a pick-up truck and a car crashed near the entry of the bridge on the Indiana side. Witnesses told police the woman was driving the car northbound when she crossed the center line and crashed into the pick-up truck.

Both drivers were taken to University of Louisville Hospital. Police said the woman driving the car appeared to have life threatening injuries. The extent of the pick-up driver's injuries were not released.
