LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A family who lost their own child to cancer helped spread a little cheer to other kids battling the same disease.

On September 3, 2010, Isaiah Alonso collapsed from complications of lymphoma, a condition he did not show any symptoms of prior to his death a week later on September 10, 2010.

Wednesday afternoon, his family delivered bags of presents as a Christmas in July to patients at Kosair Children's Hospital.

His father, Vinnie Alonso explained, "With the bags, the families have just about everything they need, toiletries, blankets, games, puzzles, something to keep 'em occupied and let 'em know even though it's not Christmas, you're still going to get a present."

The Isaiah Alonso Foundation was created to spread awareness of childhood cancer and help raise money for families in the fight. To learn more about the foundation, click here.
