LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man they say was pretending to be a homeless veteran and get money.

An arrest report states that an officer was exiting the Watterson Expressway (I-264) at U.S. 42 around 10:50 a.m. on July 15 when he saw Christopher S. Moloney at the end of the intersection aggressively soliciting money from the drivers of stopped cars.

Police said Moloney was holding a handwritten sign that said "Homeless Iraq Vet Please Help Thank You God Bless" and wearing a Marine Corps hat. According to LMPD, Moloney has never served in the military.

Moloney is no stranger to police. The officer who arrested him stated he has given Moloney warnings on three previous occasions and that Moloney knew what he was doing was against the law.

Moloney was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of stopping, standing or parking on a limited access highway and misrepresenting his military status.
