BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – The driver of a tractor was ejected after a crash involving a van on Interstate 65, according to Bullitt County EMA.

Bullitt County EMA Director Mike Riordan confirmed the wreck happened around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday just north of the 110 mile marker of I-65 northbound, at the Clermont Exit.

Riordan said the person driving the tractor was mowing the grass along the interstate at the time of the crash. The WAVE 3 News crew on the scene reported the tractor is from Swartz Mowing Company, located in Olympia, Kentucky. KYTC confirmed the mowing company is a contractor for the state of Kentucky assigned to mow I-65.

The van driver was passing through from out of state. Witnesses tell police she veered from the middle lane.

The driver of the tractor was transported to University Hospital in Louisville. The driver of the van was also injured and taken to an area hospital.

At least two lanes of I-65 northbound were shut down. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police are not ruling out a medical condition is a contributing factor.
