Immediately following the settlement announcement, a woman who identified herself as Adams' wife Tracy Adams sent WAVE 3 News an email that reads:
"My husband, James Adams, was involved in a fatal car accident over three years ago. For three long years, I have had to remain silent.
This week, a civil lawsuit against my husband and the City of Louisville was brought to a close. Along with a financial payment from the city, a letter of apology and warning to other police officers was required to be released in order to reach a settlement. The letter was written by attorneys with specifications by the plaintiffs.
After three years of silence, I want to say that I do not believe my husband was the cause of this accident. I also believe that he did everything he could to help considering the fact that he was also injured and in a state of shock. Many of the things reported in the media were untrue and I will never watch another news story again without questioning how much is true. That night was a tragedy but in truth it was only a terrible and unfortunate accident that caused a lot of pain to two families.
I am sure that I won't change any opinions and you won't change mine. Please just let this case rest and leave everyone involved alone.
