LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A mother is facing drug charges after she was pulled over with her child in the backseat.

According to an arrest report filed by Louisville Metro police, Lanitra Brown, 30, was pulled over because the vehicle she was driving had an expired registration and a canceled license plate on Thursday.

When police walked up to the vehicle they said there was a strong odor of marijuana. Officers searched her car and found a half smoked joint inside of a coffee cup and her young daughter unrestrained in the backseat.

The report stated Brown admitted to being under the influence of marijuana and said she attempted to hide her joint. Police said she was also operating the vehicle without insurance.

Brown was charged with wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and no registration plates.
