Man charged with burglary and arson after domestic dispute

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Valley Station man is facing multiple charges after a domestic dispute.

According to an arrest report, on the afternoon of July 19 Don Maurice Tinsley broke into the home of a woman he had been involved with. Once inside, Tinsley destroyed several flat screen TV sets, along with computers, furniture and the backyard pool.

Police said Tinsley, 50, then took a gas can out of the shed and poured gasoline throughout the house, including the woman's bed. Tinsley then called the woman while still inside her home. The woman called police and Tinsley fled without starting a fire.

The arrest report states Tinsley and the woman met the day before to talk about property he had previously taken from her home. During the meeting, Tinsley and the woman argued and Tinsley threatened to kill her and himself so they could be together. The report also said Tinsley tried to grab the woman and force her into his hotel room.

Tinsley was arrested on charges of burglary, arson, criminal mischief, assault -domestic violence, and terroristic threatening.

The damage to the home was estimated to be more than $1,000.
