Jail inmate charged with having contraband

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections is facing additional charges after he was found to have banned items in his possession.

Around 6 p.m. on July 21, a nurse at Metro Corrections saw Joseph Paul Colvin, Jr. standing on a commode while hiding items in the ceiling. After being handcuffed, corrections officers found cigarettes, chewing tobacco, money and what appeared to be crack cocaine inside area of the ceiling where Colvin had been seen.

Colvin, 18, has been charged with possession of controlled substances, tampering with physical evidence and promoting contraband.
