LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An early-morning semi fire shut down a busy interstate during morning rush hour.

Smoke could be seen from far off shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the northbound lanes of I-71, north of the I-265 Gene Snyder Freeway.

One northbound lane reopened by 8:15 a.m. Above the burned truck, the camera from Air 3 showed the fire well extinguished by then.

However, a long line of cars heading north on I-71 stretched back to the I-264 Watterson Expressway.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

It was not immediately known what ignited the flames.
